After many long nights of reviewing future product strategies and an assessment of where I think Indexter is going to fit into the evolving landscape of productivity tools, including the advent of GPT-based tools, and some recent financing developments, I’ve made the difficult decision to shut down Indexter on April 1.

Success is the friends we make and lessons learned along the way

Building Indexter taught me a lot about how to go from product idea to prototype to launch in rapid succession. I learned about building and evolving a full stack app and Indexter shaped how I think business may evolve after the Great Tech Implosion (working title).

The worst thing in the world is not a bad release (in fact, bug reports are awesome) its getting no response at all. After all, Indexter raised some eyebrows and showed potential for my users. However, I wasn’t able to spin the flywheel enough to sustain the operating cost.

All that said, I’ve met some really cool people along the way and it’s inspired me to keep pressing on the idea of micro-SaaS products and to explore further how to leverage generative AI tech to rapidly produce new products at lower cost.

So What Now?

Indexter as it is now will fundamentally change. I intend to integrate GPT models into the overall product idea and change the core implementation of the offering. I also plan to pursue more ideas that utilize generative AI models. I think there was a significant amount of personal growth through this experience. Perhaps I see myself leaning not into building things with an eye for global scale but more for solving a lot of small problems for niche groups quickly.

For my users, your data will be permanently deleted and never sold or analyzed by myself or 3rd parties. This will have no impact on how you currently work or how your data is managed (it really only indexes what you give it after all). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
